Trial: BuildingGreen Suite

Portland State has a trial to a new electronic resource called Building Green Suite. It's an integrated online resource that provides access to the archives of Environmental Building News and the GreenSpec database of green building products, an additional database on in-depth case studies of high-performance buildings, and a detailed, annotated reference bibliography. The trial ends June 30th.

Let us know what you think of this resource by filling out our suggestion form: http://www.lib.pdx.edu/systems/suggestions.php. Be sure to include the name of the database and what you like or don't like about the product. Your suggestions help us keep our collections dynamic and strong.

Free Coffee - one night only!

Bring your cup to the Library on Sunday night, 6/7, at 9:00 p.m. for free coffee sponsored by Starbucks, while supplies last. Using your own mug always helps reduce waste and your coffee will stay warm longer than in a paper cup! Last time we went though 20 gallons very quickly, so don't wait!

Circulation Desk Renovations

The Library's Circulation work area will undergo renovations this summer to accommodate a consolidation of staff and the creation of a check-in/shipping/receiving area. Copiers will be available in the alcove to the right of the Circulation Desk, next to Archives and Special Collections. The Circulation Desk will remain open, but there will be some construction noise and dust. Thank you for your patience while we create more efficient work spaces!

Family-friendly Study Room starting Fall '09

In collaboration with the Helen Gordon Center and the Office of Information Technologies, the Library will open a family-friendly study room by this fall. This summer we will assemble the computers, children's furniture, and decor to give students with children a place to study. Stay tuned for a specific opening date!

Millar Library Re-roofing

Thanks to state economic stimulus funds, Millar Library is getting a new, more energy efficient roof!

Construction: April 13 through July 31, 2009
Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 7am - 6pm

There will be a possibility of
LOUD NOISES,
STRONG ODORS,
and/or DUST

As with most improvement jobs, living with demolition and construction can be difficult: there may be noises, dust, and nuisance odors associated with the work. The contractor will use tools to limit and contain these nuisances, but they may be disruptive, and we want you to be prepared for likely events. Portland State University’s Environmental, Health, and Safety Group will be monitoring the project to ensure the safety of our campus community.

For questions or concerns please contact Facilities & Planning at 503-725-3738
